FuturaSun is testing their modules at the new laboratory, KACST PV Lab, in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. KACST is the acronym for the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. It is the Saudi Arabian national science agency and its national laboratories with currently over 2500 employees. This independent scientific organization has one of the most modern labs for photovoltaic tests in the region and more than 30 years of experience in PV technology. KACST PV Lab was established under the KACST Institute for Water and Energy.

FuturaSun has chosen KACST PV Lab to test its solar modules in the real weather conditions present in the Middle East. “The different climatic condition of the Middle East must be tested directly there, particularly the Desert Sandstorm Test according to the EN 60068-2-68, which is part of the Desert Test Protocol one of KACST PV Lab’s extended test procedures”, explains Nicola Baggio, CTO of FuturaSun. “We think that the Middle East will be a main market and we need to provide product confidence using local labs and experience. These are the reasons why KACST is the most designated lab for desert related tests and other standard PV module tests.
