Security company Protection 1 enters US solar market

Protection 1, the largest national, full-service security company serving residential and commercial clients in the U.S., will enter the solar market with the launch of Brite Energy, powered by Protection 1 and backed by private equity firm GTCR.

The company has nearly two million residential and commercial security customers as well as a developed infrastructure of 70 bricks-and-mortar locations in the U.S.

Taken together with its industry-leading customer service, that has earned Dealer of the Year (SDM) and Installer of the Year (SS&I) awards, Brite Energy is positioned to take a leadership position in the marketplace from its launch.

"Adoption of solar solutions is rising as customers are able to live a greener lifestyle while lowering their energy costs," said Protection 1 CEO Timothy J. Whall, who has driven 120% retail growth for the company over the past four years, and who plans to bring solar solutions to residential and commercial customers.
