Sun Bandit wins certification for water heaters

The Sun Bandit system made by Next Generation Energy hasset new standards for solar water heating.

Sun Bandit's patented micro-grid technology has defined a new category for solar water heating, influencing new Solar Rating Certification Corporation (ICC-SRCC) OG-100 and OG-300 standards. The result? The world's first OG-100 certification for a PV-based solar thermal water heating collector.

The ICC-SRCC is the only national certification program established solely for solar heating and cooling products, with a purpose of developing and implementing national rating standards and certification programs for solar energy equipment.

The milestone certification for Sun Bandit marks a paradigm shift in the way solar energy is captured, stored, and used to heat water more dependably and affordably than ever.

The OG-100 certified Sun Bandit uses PV modules to generate and store energy as hot water in Sun Bandit natural gas and electric water heaters. The certification may provide customers with additional financial incentives when installing a Sun Bandit with OG-100 collectors.

"Achieving this certification represents the thought leadership and innovative technology that will assist our customers in creating market differentiation for their businesses," said Dave Kreutzman, CEO of Next Generation Energy.

"We commend the SRCC for recognizing the significance of this visionary and patented Sun Bandit technology, and for helping us facilitate the widespread adoption of solar."

Sun Bandit is a simple to install, fully integrated, autonomous way to harness the power of the sun to heat water, making on-site solar energy storage a practical, affordable reality for everyone.
