Best practice project

Best practice project - ongridMauritius shopping mall. Parallel to the grid (behind the meter application). Grid connection, 2MVA Diesel Gensets, 1.2MWp PV + Battery. The hybrid system is running parallel to the grid with zero-export functionality. It maximizes the the direct use of energy from Solar PV with extremely fast measuring and control (millisecond level). The shopping centre uses 100% of the self-generated electricity and does not feed any into the grid. Excess solar power is stored using special cooling tanks, chillers and a centralized air conditioning system. At night, the energy stored in the special cooling tanks is used for air conditioning in the mall and to cool foods. This leads to a ground breaking energy efficiency and overall system performance. The backup diesel generators and the energy storage system ensure the autonomy of the shopping centre even at full load and the DHYBRID UPP takes the lead to control and manage all different energy sources. In case the grid fails the DHYBRID UPP automatically turns on the Diesel Gensets. Best practice project - offgridCheetah Plains Luxury Lodge. It is a fully offgrid, independent renewable energy supply for the Cheetah Plains Lodge, located in the world-famous Kruger National Park in South Africa. The system comprises three solar plants with total capacity of 300kWp and a 1MWh lithium-ion battery storage system. A diesel generator which is also integrated into the microgrid is only utilized during low irradiation periods to support the storage system. DHYBRID’s Universal Power Platform (UPP) monitors and controls all the components in the system and therefore ensures a reliable energy supply at any time. Unlike traditional independent microgrids where either the diesel generator or the solar installation can be run at a given time, the UPP can control different energy generators simultaneously. This makes the entire system noticeably more efficient, meaning that the diesel generator only needs to be switched on when energy consumption is unusually high or in periods of bad weather. This reduces fuel consumption, noise pollution, and the impact on the environment while extending the generator’s lifespan. The hybrid power plant can be remotely controlled. Real-time monitoring and remote grid maintenance occur via VPN using a SCADA system developed by DHYBRID.
