UGE completes 1.2 MW of distributed solar in Panama

UGE and OTEPI expect to build a total of 22 solar projects for a hardware and construction material supplier, totaling 4.5 MW. The projects will operate under Panama’s net metering policy.

Lawsuit threatens SolarWorld liquidity

The ongoing lawsuit over polysilicon agreements between a SolarWorld subsidiary and Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation is threatening the German solar giant’s liquidity. The company was dealt a blow last week, when a motion to reconsider a decision on antitrust defenses was denied by a U.S. court. After shares tumbled yesterday, it issued a statement saying the decision is not a final ruling on the case. It has, however, previously acknowledged that if it must repay the US$676 million, its existence could be “threatened.”

Recurrent Energy secures financing for 60 MW Californian PV project

Recurrent Energy has secured financing for a 60 MW solar PV project currently under construction in California. Commercial operation is scheduled for Q3 2016.

Germany: Renewables likely to cover 33% of 2015 gross power consumption

According to a new figures, renewable energy is set to cover around 33% of Germany’s gross energy demands this year, or 193 billion kWh, up a fifth on 2014. PV and wind are the main contributors.

United PV acquires 100 MW PV plant in China

United Photovoltaics Group Limited has acquired a 100 MW solar PV project from Hubei Jingtai Photovoltaics Power Company Limited for around US$134 million. Following the acquisition, Hubei Jingtai became a fully-owned subsidiary of United PV.
