The detailed Conference Programme for the 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (26th EU PVSEC), taking place from 5 to 9 September 2011 in the Congress Centre and International Fair Hamburg, has been published online.
Following the review of the 1,728 abstracts applying for presentation, the International Scientific Committee, made up of 185 leading experts from the global PV community, has composed the programme of this worlds largest Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference. Under the guidance of Conference General Chairman Dr. Heinz Ossenbrink and Technical Programme Chairman Dr. Arnulf Jäger-Waldau, both from the European Commission, DG Joint Research Centre, the scoring results were discussed and the Conference Programme was defined and structured.
The soaring number of 82 Sessions with 28 Plenary, 326 Oral and more than 1,200 Visual Poster Presentations takes this international PV conference to the next level. In 7 Keynote Presentations, high ranking speakers from international research facilities and from the global PV industry give an overview and outlook on the latest technologies and future challenges of photovoltaics.
The Conference Programme for the 26th EU PVSEC covers the entire scope of PV technologies including sessions and presentations on the subjects: Advanced Photovoltaics: New Concepts and Ultra-High Efficiency Wafer-Based Silicon Solar Cells and Materials Technology Thin Film Solar Cells Components for PV Systems PV Systems PV Taking Off: Large-Scale Deployment The last year has seen a lot of progress in PV deployment, notably in Europe with an estimated installation of almost 14 GW. Meanwhile all European Member States have delivered their National Renewable Energy Action Plans to the European Commission, and it looks that there is a firm commitment which will bring Europe's PV capacity to 100 GW by 2020, Conference General Chairman Heinz Ossenbrink states.
Many presentations at the 26th EU PVSEC address the technology developments which shall lead towards 2020, and in particular regarding Europe's share in producing this expected quantity. For the first time the EU PVSEC Student Awards will be delivered on the occasion of the 26th EU PVSEC to encourage high-quality work amongst young researchers. In recognition of the most remarkable and outstanding research work in the field of PV, the Scientific Committee nominates up to six awardees who receive their EU PVSEC Student Award during the upcoming event in Hamburg. Background Information about the EU PVSEC For many years now, the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition has combined a renowned international scientific conference with a leading PV industry exhibition and trade fair.
Every year, during 5 days of conference and 4 days of trade fair, new products and technical innovations from all areas of photovoltaics and from all over the world are on show. The EU PVSEC is supported by European and international organisations such as the European Commission, UNESCO – United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, Natural Sciences Sector, WCRE – World Council for Renewable Energy, IPVEA – the International Photovoltaic Equipment Association and by an institutional cooperation with EPIA – the European Photovoltaic Industry Association.
