As part of its initiative to promote renewable energies, EPCG Zeljezara will now use renewable energy sources for its own production. EPCG Zeljezara latest achievement is the installation of a 9.18MW photovoltaic system on the roof of one of its production warehouses as the first part of the solar electricity projects.
With the project financing approved by Erste Bank, and thanks to our EPC partner Elektroprivreda Crne Gore AD Niksic, the 9.18MW project installation already started in November 2024, the mounting system already finished, the solar panels will be installed by end of December of 2024, with the PV module type UL-580M-144HVN, power 580Watt monofacial solar panels, manufactured by Ningbo Ulica Solar from China. The commissioning and grid connection is expected to finish by the end of January 2025.
EPCG Zeljezara remains committed to finding innovative ways to improve its environmental impact and make a positive contribution to sustainable development. The installation of new 9.18MW photovoltaic systems at its production and logistics facilities is just one example of its commitment to a greener future.
The roofs of the ironworks have an area of 226,000 square meters and it will be possible to install 17 MW photovoltaic panels in future, and another 30 MW can be installed on the land. The solar power plant should produce about 61 million kilowatt-hours or 61,000 MWh annually with a production price of 2.4 eurocents per kWh or 24 euros per MWh. The electricity would be sold by EPCG at a price that is 50 percent lower than on the Hungarian reference stock exchange HUPX, where the price is currently around 200 euros per MWh. But that's not all: the surplus energy is marketed as an off-site PPA (Power Purchase Agreement). This means that the electricity generated is fed into the public grid and is directly allocated to the companies consuming the electricity via balancing groups.
