The 55 MW plant in western Negev was planned and funded by Enlight Renewable Energy. In total, 36 ABB ULTRA-1400 inverters were used in this project which is bringing clean energy to 18,000 households in Israel.
The ULTRA inverter demonstrates once again its remarkable suitability for installations in demanding environments such as desert conditions, which is why it is the product of choice for a growing number of project developers from around the world. said Paolo Casini, Vice President Marketing Product Group Solar of ABBs Power Conversion business unit. The Negev project is an excellent example of the kind of harsh conditions our inverters are working under and extremely well at that.
One of the key criteria used in the selection of the ULTRA inverter was its four independent Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) input channels which provide maximum flexibility and energy harvesting across a broad range of operating conditions, including the use in combination with single axis solar trackers under the extreme heat of Negev.
Moreover, the inverter requires reduced wiring requirements due to its dedicated AC and DC compartments. The internal modularity of the ULTRA facilitates its serviceability while the passive liquid cooling extends the maintenance periods, making it ideal for the conditions of the Israeli desert.
The ULTRA is one of ABBs flagship inverter products. The product range consists of three power configurations 700 kW, 1050 kW, and 1400 kW. ULTRA inverters are recognized around the world for their performance, reliability, flexibility and efficiency of 98.5 percent, which makes them ideal for large-scale and demanding solar power installations.
