TNB Renewables Sdn Bhd (TRe) is a fully owned subsidiary of Malaysia’s leading electricity utility company, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), that has a firm commitment to accelerating the transition to sustainable energy in the country and across Southeast Asia.

TRe has chosen AFRY to provide owner’s engineering services on the Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP) project that will be located in Pekan Labu Besar, Kedah state, Malaysia. The CGPP photovoltaic (PV) power plant will have a capacity of about 30 MWac and consist of a ground-mounted single axis solar tracker.

The project will provide clean energy to a commercial power consumer via a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA). Through this arrangement between the renewable energy producer and the consumer, the end commercial customer will benefit from a long-term agreed price structure for the purchase of energy from CGPP's solar plant.

AFRY will provide comprehensive owner’s engineering services for the solar PV project, including the electrical interconnection facility. AFRY’s responsibilities entail assisting in project management, design review, and monitoring of the construction and commissioning phases.

“We are delighted to support TRe in this important solar PV project, contributing to Malaysia’s renewable energy transition and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. With AFRY’s extensive track record spanning over 500 solar power projects across 80 countries, we are confident in our ability to add value to projects like this”, says Petteri Härkki, AFRY’s Regional Director for Asia.
