Cologne, 08.03.2023 Cologne-based PV wholesaler SegenSolar today announces a new focus on expanding the group's activities in Europe.
SegenSolar GmbH (SegenSolar) – founded in 2015 as the European subsidiary of market-leading UK PV wholesaler Segen Ltd – has made a name for itself in the European PV industry. SegenSolar supplies modules, inverters, batteries, mounting systems and accessories to a wide range of customers, primarily in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland. Since mid-2022, SegenSolar has made its wealth of experience and extensive product portfolio available to installers throughout Europe.
Photovoltaics will continue to be one of the most popular and accessible options for energy self-sufficiency. The amount of solar installed in Europe grew by 47 percent from 2021 to 2022. According to an estimate by SolarPower Europe, the addition of new installations will continue to rise by around 60 percent by the end of 2023. With this steep growth, there is still huge PV potential in Europe that needs to be tapped. SegenSolar is well positioned to help installers meet the ever-increasing demand from all corners of the continent.
“We are seeing incredibly positive growth in the market and if Europe is to reach its target of 600 GW of solar power by 2030, more and more end users will need to switch to renewable energy. At SegenSolar, we are growing rapidly to meet current and projected demand,” comments Andrew Garcia, Managing Director at SegenSolar. “Our customers ordered twice as many modules and inverters last year as they did in 2021 and almost three times as many batteries. This year also offers excellent growth opportunities. We have doubled our warehouse and logistics space and aim to expand further by the end of 2023 so that our customers – especially in Eastern Europe – can serve their end customers even better.”
According to SolarPower Europe, Germany remains the leading European market for battery storage for the time being. In 2021, 1.3 GWh of home batteries were installed in Germany and the annual growth rate is 81 per cent. More than 1 million European households now have a PV system with integrated storage and demand is growing.
“Our offer is constantly reviewed and adapted to the needs of the market and our customers. In the near future, we will be adding more market-relevant storage and inverter manufacturers to our portfolio. Of course, we are also investing in our team, who are passionate about what they do,” explains Ute Wimmers, Head of Sales and Marketing at SegenSolar. “We have hired around 50 percent more staff and employees in the last year and almost quadrupled our office space to ensure that all employees have a modern and comfortable place to work that can continue to support us as we grow. In particular, the sales and order fulfilment teams have been massively strengthened to cope with the booming PV market.”
SegenSolar offers PV products from Pylontech, Fox ESS, JA Solar, Jinko, Solis, Huawei and SolarEdge, among others, which customers can also pick up nearby themselves at its warehouse locations in Cologne and Berlin. The SegenSolar customer portal provides information on stock levels in real time, shows the latest news and updates from SegenSolar and the PV industry, as well as exclusive invitations to industry events and webinars.
“Our teams are rising to the challenge of supporting tremendous PV growth and we look forward to an exciting future, not only for us at SegenSolar, but for the entire solar industry across Europe,” concludes Andrew Garcia.
