Alpha, the world leader in the development and production of electronic soldering materials, participated in the Expo Solar Exhibition and Conference in Korea held last week from September 17 – 19 at the KINTEX in Seoul. During the conference, D.J. Lee, Global Director of OEM – Korea for Alpha, gave a presentation on the benefits of ALPHA PV Ready Ribbon HT-28.

A pre-fluxed solder coated PV ribbon used for the interconnection of cells in a cSi solar module, ALPHA PV Ready Ribbon HT-28 eliminates the use of liquid fluxes during cell string operations. Made from high quality raw materials, ALPHA PV Ready Ribbon is coated with an ultra-thin layer of a unique halogen and halide free flux applied and cured in a highly specialized process. The flux is designed to be pliable and to activate at normal soldering temperatures. The coating process ensures the right amount of flux is applied where it’s needed to perform the perfect solder connection to the cell.

"This product offers a distinctive value proposition to the solar industry," said D.J. Lee. "Using ALPHA PV Ready Ribbon eliminates issues associated with assembling cSi modules using a liquid flux, and therefore increases through-put. In addition you can drop this product in to most existing assembly processes which makes for an easy transition to flux-less processing."
