The Germany-based foundation, aptly named The Goede Foundation after its founder, Dr. Michael Goede, aims to promote science and education through international projects.
Founded in 1998, the organization installed ten off-grid PV systems with its own photovoltaic modules under its "Solar Energy for Education" initiative in an underprivileged part of Vietnam, near Halong Bay, where approximately 13 percent of the population was living without access to a power grid. The company also provided TV sets and teaching DVDs to promote learning opportunities. 90 additional PV systems will be installed in other regions of the country.
