ArrayPower, a Silicon Valley-based power electronics company, has partnered with juwi, one of the largest solar integrators in the world with over $1 billion in annual revenue, to test the performance and energy yield of ArrayPower’s Sequenced Inverter in a field trial that was initiated in the third quarter of 2011. juwi installed a 36-kW, 154-module Sequenced Inverter-equipped system in Morbach, Germany. This field trial represents the first system-scale test of ArrayPower’s inverter technology outside of the United States.

The trial is ongoing, and to date the Sequenced Inverter-equipped system has outperformed string inverter-equipped systems of the same size, yielding a superior energy harvest and confirming system reliability. “Working with juwi, one of the most sought-after solar integrators in the world, on this German field trial will allow us to further validate the Sequenced Inverter’s technological benefits and to test the performance of our inverter technology with the European electrical grid,” said Wendy Arienzo, CEO of ArrayPower.

“The results have been positive thus far, demonstrating that even in wintery conditions, the Sequenced Inverter outperforms traditional inverters used most often in commercial-scale solar systems.” ArrayPower’s Sequenced Inverter is a new type of inverter architecture that is integrated with the solar module during the manufacturing process enabling cost reductions across the solar value chain while enhancing ease of system installation with a plug-and-play AC module.

The Sequenced Inverter converts the DC power produced by solar modules into grid-ready, three-phase AC power, and is designed to meet the unique needs of the commercial-scale solar market. The Sequenced Inverter offers exceptional product reliability backed by a 25-year warranty. Headquartered in Germany with offices all around the world, juwi brings almost two decades of experience in renewable energy project development. juwi has designed and installed solar, wind, bioenergy, hydropower and geothermal energy projects. T

o date, juwi has installed approximately 1,500 solar systems for a total capacity of almost 1 gigawatt. Notably, juwi installed the Waldpolenz solar power plant, which has a peak power of 52 megawatts and is one of the 20 largest solar power plants in the world. “We have installed thousands of commercial-scale solar projects around the world, and the ArrayPower Sequenced Inverter is a unique offering for this market,” said Stefan Hepp, Product Manager at juwi.

“The results so far have been very positive, and while the field trial is not yet complete, we believe that this technology can help unlock a lowered levelized cost of energy for commercial-scale systems.” About ArrayPower Based in Sunnyvale, Calif., ArrayPower produces a sequenced inverter technology for application in solar energy systems to maximize performance, simplify installation and improve capital returns.

The ArrayPower Sequenced Inverter is fully integrated with the solar module to create AC power that is grid-ready and commercial grade. The result is a safe, reliable and easy-to-install system that delivers more power at optimal costs.
