Parabel AG is one of the oldest solar energy companies in Germany. It was founded in 1992 by Jürgen Will and Holger Ruletzki, and has been successful on the market for twenty years, celebrating its twentieth anniversary on 26 March 2012.

As project developer, manufacturer of flexible solar energy systems and developer of a solar heating manager for large-scale solar thermal systems that has won the German Solar Prize, the company and its innovations have attracted a great deal of attention over the years. Other milestones include the installation of roof- and façade-integrated systems on churches, and commercial and sports buildings in the mid-90s.

Then there is the development of the SmartRoof system, the company’s own solar energy solution with hook-and-loop mounting for light industrial and commercial rooftops, for which Parabel has gained considerable attention not just in specialist circles.

Over the past few years, Parabel has gained outstanding expertise as a reliable full-service provider in the area of photovoltaic roof- and ground-mounted systems. The solar cluster in the Brandenburg municipality of Marienfliess with its more than 90 MW capacity is currently under construction and is scheduled to be completed by the autumn. It will be one of the largest systems of its kind in Europe. Despite the strained situation in the area of solar electricity generation given the latest political developments, CEO Holger Ruletzki firmly believes in the sustainability of solar energy.

“Photovoltaics is one of the most interesting yet volatile sectors in Germany. The rise in technological innovations as well as the downward price trend have been breathtaking over the past few years. The changes to solar subsidies that are currently being implemented are excessive and damaging to the economy, and represent a slap in the face for our sector. However, we at Parabel will continue with our commitment to creativity through developing new models and products and fight for decentralised energy supply.”

Parabel is currently working hard to develop sustainable models that allow customers to run photovoltaic systems in an economical way even without subsidies, and to provide cost-efficiency and long-term protection from high electricity costs despite rising raw material and energy costs. The anniversary celebrations will take place this autumn in Berlin.
