Prism Solar Technologies, the US-based manufacturer of bifacial and holographic bifacial solar modules, announced today that it has received UL1703, ULC/ORD-C1703-1 and California Energy Commission (CEC) certifications for its unique Bifacial Silicon Solar Modules from Intertek. Intertek, a world-wide leader in product safety certification, granted Prism Solar Authorization to Mark its products with the ETL mark.
The ETL and CEC certifications have been awarded to Prisms highly efficient Bifacial Silicon Solar Modules, both for the fully populated bifacial and the holographic bifacial modules. The modules are frameless, tempered glass-on-glass and bifacial, making them both easy to integrate and architecturally beautiful. Unlike traditional solar modules whose cells can only use the sunlight that strikes the front of the module, Prisms modules use bifacial silicon solar cells that convert to energy the light that strikes both the front as well as the back of the module, leading to as much as 30% additional energy harvesting from the sun.
"I'm very proud to announce that Prism has received its "Authorization to Mark" from Intertek for its line of glass-on-glass PV modules said David Waserstein, CEO of Prism Solar. "For the first time in its history, Prism Solar can make its products available to any and all commercial customers in the US and Canada."
The ETL Listed Mark demonstrates the products compliance to North American safety standards. Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) in all 50 states and Canada and retailers accept the ETL Listed Mark as proof of product safety. Moreover, the mark indicates that the manufacturer's production site conforms to a range of compliance measures and is subject to periodic follow-up inspections to verify continued conformance. The CEC certification is provided for products that meet the 2007 Appliance Efficiency Regulations adopted by the California Energy Commission. These are mandatory regulations, and are specific to appliances sold or offered for sale in California.
