Coolback Company launches innovative product that cools PV modules

Coolback Company has announced the international launch of its innovative solar product COOLBACK, which yields more output and extends the lifetime of PV solar modules for the same cost of conventional products.

The Dutch company has developed a patented solution that replaces the conventional backsheet/frame structure of solar modules with an integrated product named Coolback. Production has already begun and Coolback will be officially launched at the international Intersolar Exhibition in Munich, Germany on May 15th. At the exhibition, major solar panel producers from Italy, Jordan and China will be displaying their modules withCoolback  integration.

A widely known issue facing the solar industry concerns the temperature of PV modules. Higher module temperatures from solar radiation and outside temperatures limit (kWh) output and cause degradation, which shortens a module’s lifespan. The Coolback system tackles temperature management by keeping PV modules cooler through natural convection and radiation, providing up to 7% more (kWh) output during peak levels.

Coolback is designed to replace the conventional backsheet/frame structure on solar panels without adding costs. In addition to reducing module temperature, its structure provides added strength to a module. Both temperature management and enhanced structure work to prolong the lifetime of solar modules.

Coolback’s unique structure allows for nesting during transport to reduce volume and costs. Ease of production and installation is also a main consideration in the COOLBACK®</sup structure design.
