Data From China National PV and Energy Storage Experimental Platform: N-Type TOPCon Module Has Better Power Generation

On December 13, the designing plan consultation meeting of the National PV and Energy Storage Experimental Platform III (Daqing) hold online. The meeting focused on the sharing of the first three quarters experimental data to develop PV & energy storage industry and provide empirical, experimental, testing and other services to lead the industry development. Based on the experiential data, it has found that N-type high efficiency module has better power generation which N-Type TOPCon module has highest power generation, then followed by N-Type IBC module.

In 2022, the Daqing Base has the highest ambient temperature (maximum 32.50℃) and the highest horizontal instantaneous irradiation (maximum 1.16kWh/m2) in the first three quarters. The empirical experimental data show that the back side of the module has the maximum group irradiation under cloudy weather. At the same time, it is found that Daqing is located in a high latitude area, and the sunlight will directly irradiate the backside of the modules at sunrise and sunset, especially in June and July. When the sun irradiates the backside of the modules for more than 4 hours, it accounts for about 20% of the accumulated daily irradiation of the backside of the modules. In addition, from the measured spectrum of Daqing area, there is a large gap between the area and the AM1.5 standard spectrum in the 400nm-640nm band, which is helpful for guiding the customized design and manufacture of cells and modules in the future.

The empirical experimental data shows that N-type high-efficiency modules have the best power generation performance, especially N-Type TOPCon module. It will represent the future development direction of module technology. Through the empirical study of module operating temperature, voltage, current and other operating parameters, it has found that the overall operating temperature of the base module is low, and the average daily minimum operating temperature of the module in the first three quarters is -14.3℃, especially in the first quarter when the long-term operating temperature of the module is below 25℃.

In short, N-Type technology has achieved highest efficiency based on experiential data, especially the N-type TOPCon technology. It will be the future trend in the PV industry.
