Focus on artificial intelligence, cyber security and big data
Berlin, August 16, 2017 – The Digital Energy World Conference, organized by Solarpraxis Neue Energiewelt AG, will highlight the opportunities and risks of digitalization for the energy industry. On September 5, the events of the conference's opening day will center on the blockchain and its importance for the energy world. On September 6, the focus will shift to the key topics of artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security and big data, which will be discussed from the perspective of the energy and IT industries.
Practice-oriented reports on digitalization in the energy world
Numerous presentations, workshops and discussions will address the key topics of artificial intelligence, cyber security and big data analytics. The conference will provide concrete examples of how stakeholders in the energy sector are already putting these developments into practice and what companies can learn from this. “Countless buzzwords, such as machine learning, visual computing or predictive maintenance, remain a source of confusion within the industry. We want to bring clarity to the debate and provide real-world inspiration in order to advance the digitalization of the energy industry in Germany,” explains Karl-Heinz Remmers, Chairman of the Board of the event organizer Solarpraxis AG.
Cyber security and big data analytics as compulsory subjects for the industry
In contrast, cyber security and cyber espionage are existing risks which have not yet received enough attention. “Cyber security serves as the seatbelt for a digital society,” says Barbara Engels of the Cologne Institute for Economic Research, who adds that from a security perspective, addressing this topic is absolutely critical. “This is especially true for the energy industry, which is a particularly attractive target for hackers.”
Participants will also engage with data-based business models such as those used to control intelligent power grids or to forecast wind power outages. Artificial intelligence can be applied, for example, in order to accelerate and improve business processes in the energy industry. “The future belongs to those who take advantage of this digital revolution,” notes speaker Juliane Schulze of Vattenfall Europe Innovation.
On the first day of the conference, participants will learn about blockchain technology and its potential applications in the energy world. Conference participants can also look forward to the Energy Start-Up Networking Event, where young companies will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas and strike up conversations with investors and energy companies.
