Sam Baldwin, Chief Science Officer for the U.S. Department of Energys Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, will open the technical conference with an address on high-penetration deployment of renewable energy on the U.S. energy grid.
Since its founding in 1961, the IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference has united the worlds top photovoltaic scientists and engineers to discuss their latest technological findings, from research and development laboratories to installed systems. Today, the PVSC is widely regarded as the foremost technical meeting in the photovoltaic industry.
The IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference will begin with Austin Solar Day on Sunday, June 3. This free public event features beginner-level educational sessions on the advantages of solar energy, led by industry experts. Austin Solar Day will also host local solar technology providers and system installers for community members interested in learning how they can utilize solar PV for their homes and businesses.
The comprehensive technical conference will begin Monday, June 4, with the keynote address from Dr. Baldwin. Throughout the week, presenters from around the world will offer their findings on the latest developments across 10 key areas, including advancements in crystalline silicon PV, concentrator technologies and both terrestrial and space-based applications.
Additionally, the conference hall will feature more than 740 poster presentations and exhibits from dozens of the industrys top research and engineering organizations.
A new feature for this years conference is the PV Jobs Portal, a program designed to connect prospective employers with PV professionals in the industry, academia and government sectors. Employers and job seekers are invited to browse the PV Jobs Portal website, where they can efficiently coordinate on-site interviews during the PV Specialists Conference.
