Former First Solar executive Timo Moeller leads NovaSource into Europe

After spinning off from First Solar in 2021, NovaSource has been rapidly building up its portfolio around the world, acquiring O&M contracts in the U.S., South America, Europe, and other key markets. Moeller brings extensive solar industry experience, including 14 years as an executive with First Solar. He now also serves as Vice-Chair of the Lifecycle Quality Workstream with SolarPower Europe.
Moeller is in charge of NovaSource Power Services’ push to rapidly scale in the European market. The company has contracts in Germany, France, and Italy, with more than 160 solar projects under management, and offices in Italy as well as France. The European team consists of over 40 industry professionals from across the continent, with more than 140 years of combined experience in solar.
NovaSource’s expansion comes at an integral time for the European energy transition, with many EU countries set to greatly increase solar PV deployments over the coming years. Germany alone has accelerated its commitment to get its power from 100% renewables by 2035. The entire EU is estimated to need more than 600 GW of Solar PV capacity by the year 2030.
“We see a massive opportunity to provide Europe with a better solar O&M service. For renewables to meet Europe’s energy needs, plants need to perform to their maximum potential and that’s exactly what top quality O&M enables,” explains Moeller, “As new projects come online faster, the importance of reliable partners to keep these plants running smoothly has increased. Solar energy must prove to be a secure, dependable part of the energy infrastructure. And at the same time, it has to deliver a reliable return to their owners if solar is to attract the level of investment the sector needs to grow.”
NovaSource Power has already established itself as the leading O&M provider for solar PV worldwide, thanks in part to significant acquisitions the company made last year.
“Having the scale to serve many projects simultaneously allows us to deploy big data to further develop our offerings,” said NovaSource Power CEO Troy Lauterbach. “We made the decision early on to be a leading player in this space, and that’s exactly what we’re setting out to do as we enter the European market. I’m excited to have an executive with Timo’s experience at the helm as we look to greatly increase our European footprint.”
