Gran Canaria: Conergy builds another solar park on holiday island in record time

Conergy has completed the solar park in the record time of just four weeks. The company also acted as general contractor for this second project. The system supplier was responsible for the planning and construction of the park and supplied all the necessary components. Conergy has also taken on the maintenance and operational management of the park so that the customer can rest easy, knowing that their investment is in good hands.

In the future, around 2,200 Conergy PH modules will produce 930,600 kWh of clean solar energy each year, on an area of 9,300 square metres. In conjunction with its rooftop installation, Aqüimes now has the benefit of more than 3,500 megawatt hours of solar energy per annum. This meets the energy needs of more than 15% of the population. Together, the two installations will prevent the production of more than 1,700 tonnes of harmful CO2 emissions.

"We are delighted that in 2012 we have once again been able to carry out a new project on Gran Canaria", says the Managing Director of Conergy Spain, Luis Jiménez Gutierrez. "It certainly won't be our last. We have so far installed around 13 megawatts of solar power on the Canary Islands. These islands enjoy so much sunshine that it is well on its way to achieving grid parity in the near future. We are already very well positioned here and are looking forward to the future of solar power on the Canary Islands."
