Greater demand for European solar modules in French calls for tender
The Scandinavian-German module manufacturer Innotech Solar AS (ITS) has witnessed an increased demand for its products in France since the carbon footprint of solar modules became a compulsory evaluation criterion of calls for tender issued in the country. This requirement has been assigned a weighting of one third during the selection process, which has resulted in the proven low carbon footprint of Innotech Solars European modules putting them in particularly high demand.
The French government made a low carbon footprint an essential evaluation criterion for solar projects of between 100 and 250 kWp. Environmentally friendly modules are much more likely to be selected during the evaluation process especially as companies are now scarcely able to use price to stand out from their competitors due to a tightening market environment, reports Dr. Thomas Hillig, Vice President Module Sales & Marketing at Innotech Solar. This has increased demand for our solar modules. Thanks to our particularly green production process, the carbon footprint of Innotech Solar modules is around 70 percent lower than that of modules using conventional cells.
The Dutch test institute SmartGreenScans, which specializes in the life cycle analysis of photovoltaic systems, has certified the excellent carbon footprint of Innotech Solar modules, an achievement that has been made possible by the companys environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Innotech Solar optimizes solar cells from other manufacturers before using them to produce its own modules. After only about four months of generating solar power, these modules save quantities of CO2 equaling those required to manufacture them. In addition to the innovative production process, the use of renewable energy at the companys manufacturing sites in Sweden and Germany, as well as the short transport routes, improve the companys carbon footprint.
A multitude of tests by independent experts, such as the Fraunhofer Institute, Photovoltaik-Institut Berlin and PV Lab, have demonstrated the high performance, durability and positive environmental impact of Innotech Solar modules. http://www.innotechsolar.com
