Nonetheless, what many system operators do not know: merely one shaded or contaminated module may cause the power of an entire PV system to diminish considerably. The industry has responded in the meantime: So-called power optimisers maximise the yield of each individual module.
SolarEdge Technologies is one of the pioneers in this field. The solar manufacturer, Jurawatt GmbH, is now offering a module-integrated solution. Power optimisation at the module level: the benefits The new module-internal power optimisation maximises the energy yield of each individual module by MPP tracking. The power of the module is monitored continuously and the data is transferred in real time to a monitoring portal. In this manner, the maintenance is also simplified considerably, since defective modules are identified immediately with the help of integrated monitoring. The new technology ensures: As soon as the connection to the inverter or the mains supply is interrupted, the module voltage is shut down automatically. The same is applicable if the inverter is switched off or the module gets overheated. This also means less risk during installation or in the event of a fire. Attractive for solar mechanics The new module type can be installed faster now than was the case before with the use of the power optimisers. Less cable is consumed and roof surfaces can be better utilised in fact, on the east and west sides. With the help of this technology, even Jurawatt modules of different sizes and ratings can be combined in one string.
