"Our efforts to encourage the development and expansion of solar energy are yielding results," said JCP&L President Don Lynch. "The Solar Renewable Energy Certificate program in which we participate reflects our support of clean energy while providing a strong financial incentive for increased investment in solar power projects."
The SEPA report analyzed more than 240 utilities in the United States and recognized the top utilities driving solar growth. Collectively in 2011, U.S. utilities added almost 1,500 MW of new solar capacity, with the top 10 utilities representing 1,000 of those megawatts.
SEPA is an educational non-profit organization dedicated to helping utilities integrate solar power into their energy portfolios.
