JDEnergy proves BESS safety and reliability in UL 9540A test

JDEnergy, an industry-leading provider of distributed energy storage, has announced that its integrated PV-ESS solution, eBlock-100C, has passed the UL 9540A fire propagation test, with thermal runaway contained within a single cabinet and no impact on adjacent units.

UL 9540A is widely regarded as one of the most demanding safety assessments for battery energy storage systems, evaluating the risk of fire and thermal propagation under extreme failure scenarios. The test was conducted in strict accordance with the UL-certified standard, focusing on the module and unit levels and closely simulating extreme thermal runaway scenarios in energy storage systems.

During testing, thermal runaway was confined to the primary cabinet, where cell temperatures exceeded 800°C without fire, explosion, or structural failure. Adjacent cabinets remained unaffected, with maximum cell temperatures limited to 31°C—well below the 179°C reference threshold—and all battery data and BMS functions operating normally. Witnessed throughout by international certification body CSA Group, the results validate the eBlock-100C’s system-level safety performance against international safety benchmarks.

The eBlock-100C is designed to address growing international demand for integrated solar-plus-storage solutions. It integrates PV MPPT, battery DC/DC, and bidirectional DC/AC conversion within a single cabinet, supporting both grid-tied and off-grid operation, as well as multiple EMS modes including self-consumption, economic optimization, and backup power. These capabilities enable flexible deployment and simplified installation across a wide range of applications, including shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, commercial complexes, factories, distributed photovoltaic projects, substations, zero-carbon industrial parks, microgrids, heat pumps, and diesel generator integration.

According to JDEnergy, the successful completion of the UL 9540A test confirms that its energy storage products meet the stringent safety access requirements in the North American market. As the company advances its global expansion strategy, JDEnergy is strengthening its international certification portfolio to align with regional regulatory and market standards worldwide.

Looking ahead, JDEnergy will continue to prioritize safety-focused product design, demonstrating system-level safety performance through rigorous empirical testing and validation. This approach is intended to support the stable and reliable operation of energy storage projects globally, while enabling the delivery of safe, high-performance, and integrated energy storage solutions to customers across international markets.
