JinkoSolar has a massive portfolio of over 3,500 pa tents globally. It also holds the most TOPCon-related patents, which is next-generation high-efficient PV cell technology seen as key to underpinning further solar adoption.
Though the Company did not confirm whether it will rely on these royalties as a major source of revenue, but no doubt its established patent-holding landscape brings in new protection weapons and competition barriers that significantly differentiate it from its rivals.
“This first important step demonstrates JinkoSolar’s leading position in R&D and the success of its TOPCon patent pool concept which marks a milestone in managing patents for the solar PV industry,” said Dany Qian, Vice President of JinkoSolar.
As TOPCon is mainstreamed, JinkoSolar, one of the pioneer innovators of TOPCon and holds 330 TOPCon authorized patents, differentiates and outstands itself to absolutely secure its competitiveness. Over the past five years, JinkoSolar built its own portfolio of TOPCon patents and developed products its customers prefer over its competitors, based on which will defend its position as the biggest solar PV company in the world. The shipment of over 75GW in 2023 makes JinkoSolar No.1 again for the fifth time.
“We have worked for more than five years to develop the TOPCon Patent Pool concept. Today we are proud to see that it is becoming a tangible reality,” said Dany, “this deal will help make TOPCon solutions more available.”
