Additionally, the juwi subsidiary widens its product portfolio: Besides wind parks, it will also project solar as well as bioenergy plants in line with juwis 100-percent-renewable-energy-approach. In Nicaragua, juwi successfully entered the market. In the city of Rivas on the western shore of the Lake Nicaragua, the juwi subsidiary was selected by Alba de Nicaragua S.A. (ALBANISA), a joined venture company owned by the Nicaraguan and Venezuelan government, to supervise the construction of a 39.6 megawatt wind farm.

The wind park consists of 22 Vestas V100 turbines. Each one has a capacity of 1.8 megawatts. After commissioning, the park will produce more than 120 million kilowatthours of clean electricity annually, providing green energy for 30,000 households. In comparison to the production of electricity in a conventional power station, the 22 wind turbines in Rivas reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 121,100 tons per year.
The park will be connected to the grid by mid-2013. Main financing is coming from the Venezuelan government as a part of long term aid and cooperation funds for the Alba Group (The Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America and the Caribbean) countries. The project has the support from all the governmental agencies.
juwi has been present on the Central American market for eleven years now. In late 2009, the company has constructed Costa Ricas most powerful wind farm. Since then the 55 Enercon E44 wind turbines produce 240 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, providing green energy for more than 70,000 households.
In Costa Rica, juwi is currently constructing under the EPC modality the 15.3 MW Eólico Valle Central S.A. (EVCSA) turnkey project with local partners. The project site is located near the capital San José. The wind park will begin operating before end of the year 2012.
In South America, juwi has been active with local subsidiaries in Chile since 2010 and in Uruguay since 2012.
