Krannich Solar realises a 1 MW open-field system in Japan

4,088 Axitec 245P modules were installed on the site and connected to the grid via 50 Delta RPI M20A string inverters.

All the solar electricity produced will be fed into the grid. Although the site earmarked for the solar park was wilderness, it was classified as arable land. For this reason, receiving permission from the agricultural committee to construct a solar park took months.

The project has been supported throughout the entire installation process by the highly qualified PV engineers of the Japanese Krannich Solar branch office: from the first presentation and system design, right through to testing the inverters and finally connecting the system to the grid. It is the biggest installation to date for the Krannich subsidiary in Japan.

Acting as project partner was the JENC Corporation, a project developer with which Krannich Japan has been co-operating since 2013. The first contact was made with the investor in Osaka in May 2014. The investor had been looking for a trustworthy PV partner.

The company decided to work with Krannich Solar because of Krannich's long-term experience in the European PV market. Another plus point was the high-performance German Axitec modules, which enjoy a fantastic reputation in Japan. The Delta inverters were chosen because they were best suited to the modules due to their string design.

“When designing and constructing a solar power plant in Japan, the most important thing is to ensure 20 years of security in order to win the trust of customers,” says Tomio Yanagi, Representative Director of the JENC Corporation.

“Thanks to our co-operation with Krannich Solar, the facility is generating 15% to 20% more power than initially expected. Accordingly, our solar power sales revenues are higher. We received a very good rating from our customers, as well as a lot of praise and appreciative words, both for our work as the plant constructors and as the contractor.”

Yoshifumi Kawabata, CEO of Krannich Solar Japan, adds: “We have already completed 32 projects with JENC. Mr Yanagi has evaluated our technical skills, quality, logistics management and our service. The customer required top quality and rapid construction of the plant. Thanks to support from the German headquarters, we were able to offer a solution tailored to our customer’s needs. We were also able to impress our customer with our global market expertise.”

Tomio Yanagi is convinced that the solar market in Japan will continue to grow. “As a clean energy source that causes no CO2 emissions, solar power will achieve the same acceptance here as it has in Europe. For this reason, our co-operation with Krannich Solar is of strategic importance to us. With more than 20 years of experience, Krannich Solar are world leaders in the solar industry. Together with Krannich, we will contribute to the growth of the Japanese solar market.”
