In the overall construction cost of a solar power station, the expense of installing millions of solar panels accounts for a significant percentage. Leapting Technology has always been committed to enhancing power generation efficiency and reducing project costs. After nearly two years of research and development, Leapting Technology has successfully delivered its first independently developed autonomous PV module mounting robot by the end of 2023. This marks a breakthrough in overcoming the bottlenecks in solar power station construction and heralds a new era in the industry.

l Reducing Labor Risks and Enhancing Safety in Power Station Installation

A large-scale ground-based solar power station may require the installation of nearly a million solar panels. Placing and securing these panels onto mounting brackets in batches is one of the most repetitive and time-consuming tasks. Furthermore, as the industry shifts towards higher power output panels, larger panels can enhance power generation efficiency, but they also impose greater demands on manual installation. In addition to handling heavier loads, installers may face harsh conditions like high altitudes, extremely low or high temperatures. Leapting Technology's efforts to change the installation method carry epoch-making significance in ensuring the safety of installers from outdoor weather impacts, avoiding disruptions in construction operations, and maintaining project schedules.

After extensive data research and field observations, we have integrated several key features into the design of the autonomous solar panel installation robot. These features include “increased safety, speed, cost-effectiveness, accessibility, efficiency, and upgradability.” With nearly ten thousand repetitions in operation testing, this autonomous PV module mounting robot has arrived as scheduled, ready to transform the landscape of solar power station construction.

Leapting Technology introduces its innovative product, destined to revolutionize the solar photovoltaic industry. The machine features a caterpillar-track chassis, fully automated navigation and obstacle avoidance systems, and is equipped with a solar panel tray. It utilizes a robotic arm to pick up and place solar panels onto solar brackets. The AI vision recognition system precisely “identifies” the position of the solar brackets and calculates their location relative to the torque tube. This ensures accurate placement and securing of the panels, completing the installation process. Tests have shown that the installation speed can reach one panel per minute.

The first independently developed robot, a major achievement for the year, traveled across oceans to a client's project site. It assisted in automating the solar panel installation process, significantly reducing the time traditionally required for manual installation, and effectively controlling the overall project timeline.

Bruce Wang, the founder and CEO of Leapting Technology, states, “The application of artificial intelligence and high-precision 3D detection systems is very mature. We have fully integrated these technologies into our autonomous PV module mounting robot. Our focus is not only on the installation task itself but also on ensuring its reliable operation. Our goal is to assist installation personnel in improving efficiency, thereby maximizing the benefits of solar power station projects.”

As 2024 approaches, Leapting Technology plans to expand its project team to undertake larger and more international projects. The company will continue to iterate and improve its autonomous PV module mounting robot, committed to contributing to the accelerated development of future renewable energy.
