As the sole Chinese photovoltaic enterprise, LONGi participated deeply in this activity, and engaged in exchanges with multiple partners on “Building Sustainable Brand”. LONGi’s featured story of “Lighting Up Africa ” was selected as the sustainable brand cases by the committee.
Over the past decade, solar PV costs have fallen by nearly 90%, making it the most affordable source of electricity in many regions. This shift is accelerating global energy equity: communities that once lacked reliable power can now access clean, scalable solutions. Floria Wang, Director of Global Branding from LONGi, introduced these two African cases to the attendees.
In 2024, LONGi installed a 0.86-kilowatt rooftop solar system in Linga Linga, Mozambique, providing clean water for the local maternity clinic. By turning sunlight into electricity for water pumping, the clinic now has a steady, safe water supply. Nurses at the clinic report fewer infection risks, mothers feel safer, and 150 babies have been delivered with reliable access to clean water.
In Malawi, many rural schools still operate without electricity, which makes it difficult for children to study and for teachers to support them. To help improve this situation, LONGi provided a container of solar panels to 12 schools and nearby villages, bringing stable green electricity to their classrooms.
By the end of 2024, LONGi had shipped more than 500 GW of solar wafers—enough to power roughly a quarter of the world’s cumulative PV installations. These systems have generated over 2.6 million GWh of clean electricity and helped avoid 1.2 billion tons of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to planting more than 6 billion trees, or the carbon absorbed by one and a half Amazon rainforests.
Beyond the numbers, they represent millions of households gaining light, thousands of clinics gaining stability, and communities gaining the dignity that comes with reliable access to energy, said Floria Wang. She emphasized to all attendees the green and sustainable cases, and achievements of LONGi in the African region.
At the same day, the delegation revisited the distributed solar project supported by LONGi at the University of Nairobi in 2023. Through dialogues in real-world scenarios, they further validated the value of clean energy in public services such as education and healthcare.
On December 16, the outcomes of the Guide on Building Sustainable Brand were officially released, alongside the convening of the Sustainable Entrepreneurs Forum 2025——
Building Planet-Friendly Sustainable Business. During the forum, Noah Lukeya, Technical Solution Manager from LONGi, shared the company’s business philosophy of goodwill and the process of realizing commercial value, and its commitment to integrating the concept of sustainable development into the company's strategy and operations.
The delegation also visited Transsion and held exchanges with Mr. Liu Xiaoqian, Head of Mobile Phone Business at Transsion, and Ms. Wu Mixiang, General Manager of Kilimall Kenya, discussing market needs, channel ecosystems, and pathways for advancing sustainable business practices—further enabling knowledge exchange and partnership opportunities.
From launching the visionary initiative of “A Commitment to Build Sustainable Brands ” in Geneva this September, to introducing the “2025 Corporate Sustainable Brand Xi'an Initiative” in October, and now collaborating with UNEP, SBLF, and other partners in Nairobi to promote practical initiatives, LONGi continues to transform its sustainability vision into visible and actionable pathways.
In the future, the company will further advance green technology innovation and multilateral cooperation, exploring replicable practices in public health, quality education, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable community development, striving to bring clean, reliable, and affordable energy to more regions and communities.
