Mercury Solar Systems today announced its expansion into Massachusetts, strengthening its leadership position on the eastern seaboard. The company will serve local commercial and residential solar customers from its newly established office in Waltham, MA. Matt Shortsleeve has been appointed Sales Manager and will oversee Mercury Solar Systems' Massachusetts operation.

"Massachusetts has embraced solar energy over the past few years and we felt the strength of the Commonwealth Solar Program and thriving SREC market made this an optimal time to bring our industry expertise to the local marketplace," commented Frank Alfano, Chief Executive Officer of Mercury Solar Systems. "We have established and launched our full service offering in numerous states and believe our success is driven by our ability to offer our customers a high-quality solution at the most affordable price."

Mercury Solar Systems has significantly expanded its commercial and utility scale solar panels business over the past several years. The Company has installed carports, ground mounts, truckports and flat rooftop systems ranging from 50 kW to multi-megawatts for privately-held businesses, real estate firms, independent power producers and utilities. This expertise is now available in Massachusetts.

To accelerate the adoption of solar energy among local homeowners, Mercury Solar Systems has expanded its partnership with SunRun, a national home solar leader.

A solar service company, SunRun owns and maintains solar systems on homeowners' roofs and works with Mercury Solar Systems on the installation. Homeowners avoid the high upfront costs and pay a low monthly rate for clean power, fixing their energy costs to save thousands of dollars over time on their energy bills. Mercury Solar Systems and SunRun also work together in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

"To provide more American families with a dependable solar service that will save them money, we partner with the best installers in each of our markets," said SunRun President and Co-founder Lynn Jurich. "We have a trusted and successful partnership with Mercury Solar Systems in other states, and we're pleased to expand with them in Massachusetts to meet the growing demand for home solar."
