Optimizing space and power with advanced technology
For the installation, the company partnered with Ecosinergie Tienergy SA, an experienced solar installer from the Ticino region, and Krannich, the project’s distributor. To ensure the best performance within the available rooftop area, Metaltex selected AIKO’s Neostar 2P 470 W N-Type ABC modules, known for their combination of high efficiency, durability, and reliability.
With a total of 1.236 AIKO modules installed at a 15° tilt and a South-Southeast orientation, the project reached a capacity of 581 kWp – a 4,4 % increase compared to what would have been possible with conventional TOPCon modules (556 kWp). The compact design of AIKO’s modules also optimized roof utilization, requiring slightly less area (2.463 m² versus 2.470 m²).
“The AIKO modules offered the highest power relative to the surface occupied, along with the most complete guarantees – from product and production to resistance against atmospheric damage such as hail, which is a particularly relevant issue nowadays,” says Gionata Mongodi, Project Manager at Ecosinergie Tienergy SA.
Reliable performance, greater energy yield
AIKO’s ABC technology, compared to TOPCon, demonstrates its advantages not only in space efficiency but also in long-term performance:
· +4,4 % higher installed capacity (581 kWp vs. 556 kWp)
· +9,0 % more electricity generated in the first year (740,09 MWh vs. 679,00 MWh)
· +9,8 % greater lifetime generation (20.412 MWh total, worth €180.000)
· 7,8 % faster payback time (2,59 years vs. 2,81 years)
· Lower LCOE: €0,03968 /kWh with AIKO vs. €0,04320 /kWh with TOPCon
· Higher lifetime revenue: €6,13 million total savings and returns
Designed for reliability in changing conditions
The site’s location in southern Switzerland makes durability and environmental resistance critical factors. AIKO’s N-Type ABC modules have proven particularly reliable under varying weather conditions, including temperature fluctuations and hail exposure, ensuring stable output and minimal maintenance needs throughout the system’s life cycle.
“The customer was keen to adopt cutting-edge technology that could boost productivity and reliability. AIKO’s ABC modules were the most advanced on the market at the time of installation. It’s a perfect match for the client’s innovation-oriented mindset.” says Mongodi.
A smart investment for a sustainable future
For Metaltex SA, this installation is both an environmental and strategic investment. By producing its own renewable electricity, the company reduces dependence on grid energy and stabilizes operational costs over the long term.
“The decision to install a photovoltaic system aligns with our long-term vision of sustainable manufacturing,” says Ivo Wenger, CFO and Group Controller of Metaltex SA. “AIKO’s high-efficiency technology allows us to make the best use of our rooftop area while achieving substantial savings and a faster return on investment.”
Through this project, Metaltex SA not only strengthens its commitment to carbon reduction but also sets a strong example for industrial players seeking to combine technological excellence with environmental responsibility.
