LexisNexis has today announced Oxford PV among its Top Ten Most Innovative Startups in the UK. This recognition highlights Oxford PV’s pioneering leadership in perovskite-on-silicon tandem photovoltaic technology and the strength of its global IP portfolio.

Perovskite-on-silicon tandem solar technology brings the next era for solar innovation, offering a pathway to significantly higher performance than traditional silicon solar. This is a step-change for solar energy as conventional silicon technology is approaching its practical efficiency limit.

Headquartered in Oxford, UK, Oxford PV is a global leader in perovskite solar technology, developing scalable, high-performance solutions for clean power for over a decade. With a portfolio of over 400 granted patents, Oxford PV’s tandem technology delivers materially higher energy output than conventional silicon cells.

“This recognition underscores the depth and quality of the intellectual property behind our technology,” said David Ward, CEO. “Innovation at Oxford PV is driven by the hard work of our dedicated team, built over years of fundamental research, technology and product development to deliver the major breakthrough in solar in recent decades.”

“Innovation has always been part of the UK’s DNA, and today’s most dynamic startups are carrying that legacy forward through world-class research and breakthrough technologies,” said Marco Richter, Senior Director of IP Analytics and Strategy for LexisNexis Intellectual Property Solutions.

“By using patent analytics to measure not just the quantity but the quality and global impact of each company’s inventions, we can identify where real technological leadership is emerging. These findings highlight the UK’s continued strength as a hub for high-value innovation that drives competitive advantage across industries.”

LexisNexis Intellectual Property Solutions conducted an analysis to identify the ten most innovative startups in the United Kingdom, based on each company’s Patent Asset Index, a proprietary metric from LexisNexis that reflects the value of a company’s patent portfolio.
