Built next to Power-One’s existing R&D facilities in the heart of Tuscany, the new pavilion offers high-tech laboratories and climate rooms for the development and testing of Power-One’s AURORA photovoltaic and wind inverters. Over 1,600 m² on two floors will offer ideal R&D conditions for approximately 200 engineers.

The highlight of the new facility is its power capability making it one of the largest and most equipped in Europe for a complete suite of testing and certification for products up to 2MW. This allows for both the testing of the electronic or mechanical equipment under extreme climatic conditions as well as the simulation of aging processes of products and packaging.

Power-One’s Terranova Bracciolini facility which employs over one thousand employees also includes a 4.5 GW production plant for photovoltaic and wind inverters. Power-One invests 3.5 percent of its turnover into research, equaling approximately 18 Million Euros.

Power-One is growing its laboratory space to accommodate additional engineers needed to expand our design capabilities and support our growth. Power-One is also relocating its operation, sales, marketing as well as its new Aurora Academy facility to enhance its customer training capacity.

“The Center of Excellence and Development offers the ideal conditions to test our devices by exposing them to the most extreme weather conditions,” says Averaldo Farri, Vice President of Sales, EMEA, Renewable Energy Solutions at Power-One.

“This allows us to give our customers the guarantee that our products are reliable for a very long time and is one of the main reasons why we invest in research.”
