Background
Energy storage is becoming a strategic choice for industrial sectors. By adding a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), businesses can store surplus renewable energy, reduce grid reliance, and generate revenue through energy markets.
At Belgian, an international automotive supplier—already equipped with a 650 kWp solar PV installation and EV charging stations—saw the opportunity to boost both energy independence and financial efficiency with a high-performance BESS.
Challenge
Despite the large PV system, less than 30% of solar power was consumed on-site. Consumption peaks occurred mainly in the evenings and at night, when there was no solar production. As a result, excess daytime solar was sold back to the grid at low value, while expensive electricity had to be purchased during peak hours.
Solution
To maximize the value of its renewable power, the company installed POWEROAD FLEX 215 All-in-One Outdoor Cabinet ESS:
- Capacity: 860 kWh (4 × 215 kWh)
- PCS Power: 4 × 100 kW
Additional installations on site:
- Solar panels: approx. 650 kWp
- EV charging Station: 10 charging points (11 kW & 22 kW), mainly for employees.
