PV-MobiLab sets new standards for PV systems

The efficiency and quality of the installed components are the key criteria determining the efficiency of a solar system. With the development of the PV-MobiLab, a mobile test laboratory for PV modules, the Kirchner Solar Group, a developer of complete solar solutions, makes another addition to its comprehensive service portfolio to help customers secure their solar investment. The flexible, deployable test laboratory allows for the individual testing of solar modules where the customer is based, and considerably minimizes down-time.

Every minute wasted on defects and faults, as well as degradation through output deficiency, goes hand-in-hand with further costs to the provider. The dismantlement and dispatch of a representative sample of faulty modules to a test lab produces high costs and outage times. Tests of samples when the modules are delivered to the construction site and prior to the installation can minimize risks.

With the PV-MobiLab, the Kirchner Solar Group has developed a location-independent test laboratory, which enables the execution of performance measurements (Flash Tests) under STC conditions with a sun simulator of the highest quality (class AAA) and electroluminescence and thermal imaging tests during a single working cycle.

The test laboratory is process-optimized. Thus, the whole testing procedure can be adjusted to fit the specific requirements of the installation. Reflecting the varying specifications of installations in progress, adjustments range from the highest accuracy through to a maximum flow rate. Thus, module strings can be adjusted anew on-site and faulty modules immediately replaced. Further, the examination and optimization of solar power stations is carried out with the utmost efficiency.

“We introduced the PV-MobiLab at this year’s Intersolar for the very first time and were met with a positive response. The quality and efficiency of installations, as well as the service portfolio, are the decisive criteria when choosing the right partner, precisely at a time when the market is undergoing a phase of consolidation”, explains Thomas Hemmenstädt, Head of Service at Kirchner Solar Group.

“We have been looking from the start for new solutions and niches to address market and client needs even more sufficiently. The PV-MobiLab is a further logical step along that path. The module testing laboratory can be deployed world-wide, and underscores the Kirchner Solar Group’s aim to offer high-end services to all markets.”
