In a joint effort to tap the global renewable energy market, more than 126 companies including Neo Solar Power, Giga Solar Materials, Win Win Precision, TSEC, AUO, Gintung Energy, Inventec Solar Energy, CSI Technology, GCL-Poly, and Industrial Technology Research Institute will demonstrate their latest products and services in a total of 365 booths.
While the photovoltaics industry is still relying on subsidies, Taiwans PV industry is expected to report a NT$184.8 billion output for 2015. The market has slowed as subsidies are cut in many countries. However, a survey conducted by SolarPower Europe (formerly EPIA) shows that in 2014, solar installations increased significantly in Japan, China and the U.S. Global PV installations exceeded 40GW last year, and are expected to reach 58 GW in 2015, followed by further grow to 85 GW in five years.
Overcoming several market hurdles, Taiwan's solar cell exports are expected to grow due to continued demand from the Chinese domestic market, according to Brian Lee, deputy executive director at TAITRA. Although anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures have cooled the output of polysilicon ingots and PV modules, Chinas increased domestic demand for solar energy has propped up demand from Taiwan, according to EnergyTrend.
A survey recently conducted by the International Energy Agency (IEA) indicates that Asia Pacific has been the largest contributor to global solar photovoltaic installed capacity for two years straight. As the market has gradually shifted its center of gravity to Asia and emerging markets, PV Taiwan 2015 showcases the IOT with ten trade forums that cover a wide range of PV themes, including Market Development, Advanced Technology, Next Generation PV Tech, Efficient Energy Storage and Smart Grids. PV Taiwan 2015 also features five theme pavilions – PV Systems, Equipment & Materials, Testing & Certification, HCPV, and Innovative Technology & Products of PV Systems.
The press conference on October 13 included speakers from Motech Industries, Neo Solar Power, Gintech Energy, Giga Solar Materials and SAS who shared their insights on the development and prospects of global, Taiwanese and Chinese PV markets.
