The plant will be erected on a six hectare conversion area, a former gravel quarry, which meets the requirements of the German EEG.

"We are very pleased to have won the tender and look forward to deliver the completed PV plant by year end," Raymond Carlsen, CEO of Scatec Solar said. "Our company is experienced in building solar farms on conversion type land and this experience will come to good use in Lösau," he added.

The six hectare former gravel quarry is PV ready and construction will start within a couple of weeks. In order to qualify for 2011 feed-in tariffs, the plant needs to be grid connected by year end. This will be a challenging, but achievable objective according to the Scatec Solar project team.
