SgurrEnergy, a Wood Group company, will undertake the technical asset management over an initial three year period. Services will include operational monitoring and reporting, management of the O&M contractor, with regular site inspections to be conducted by SgurrEnergy’s local site manager.

With over 500 solar farms now operating in the UK, asset management is an increasingly important consideration for owners and operators. SgurrEnergy has extensive experience in the financing and construction of over 300 of these plants and this contract award marks another significant achievement.

DIF’s Moira Turnbull-Fox said: “We appointed SgurrEnergy to manage these two assets as we were impressed with their depth of knowledge, experience and UK presence and hope these can be brought to bear for our benefit.”

SgurrEnergy’s Robbie Gibson, Group Director, said: “Our solar track record in the UK is second to none, having delivered technical advice on 2.9GW of installed capacity across the country. Worldwide we have been involved in more than 10GW of solar projects and this latest assignment brings our operational asset management portfolio over the 100MW milestone.

“Looking ahead, SgurrEnergy is committed to providing a long term, high quality service to our wide range of clients cementing our position as a trusted advisor and asset manager in the market.”

Each 5MW solar farm is connected to the UK electrical grid and has approximately 20,000 solar panels installed across areas of land; equivalent to the size of around twelve football pitches.
