This global event, which provides an interactive discussion platform for international experts, features topics such as Smart Grids as Enablers for Smart Cities and other Smart Community Solutions.

IEEE, the world's largest professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, invites practitioners in the power and energy, information technology and communications sectors, from policy and business decision makers to senior engineers, to join other experts from the smart grid industry at the 3rd IEEE Smart Grid World Forum.

The two-day event at the InterContinental Geneva will feature over 60 invited Smart Grid speakers, with insightful presentations and discussions. It will provide an international perspective in a broad range of topics covering business and technical aspects enabling collaboration of stakeholders worldwide to support and promote the evolution of Smart Grid.

The IEEE Smart Grid Forum Series, held in a variety of cities worldwide, including Beijing in 2011 and Brussels in 2010, is designed to provide the framework for the exchange of ideas and sharing of best practices within the context of multiple approaches to Smart Grid. Through interactive real-world discussions on best practices and lessons learned, the event enables a realistic and impartial assessment of the current state-of-the-art developments in Smart Grids around the world.

SGWF Geneva session topics include Policy and Market Evolution for Smart Grids, Integrated Infrastructures, End Users and Flexible Demand, Environment and Sustainability, Storage, Distributed Generation and Microgrids, Energy Mix and Efficiency, Smart Grids for Smart Cities, Smart Buildings, Funding and Opportunities for Industry and Academia.

Speakers from Europe and the USA, including Philip Lowe, European Commission Director General for Energy; Dieter Gantenbein, IBM Research Center Zurich; Julian Weber, BMW Head of Innovation Projects E-Mobility; Maher Chebbo, SAP; Richard Schomberg, EDF; Thomas Theissen, Director of R&D at RWE, and Chair of the IEC Smart Grid; Wanda Reder. S&C Electric Company, and IEEE Smart Grid Chair; Professor Dirk Westermann, TU Ilmenau, Germany, and many more, will provide their expert insights.

Each session includes 3-5 presenters, with input from different stakeholders, followed by an interactive panel discussion. A moderator will lead the discussions, allowing delegates to engage in the debate to inspire new innovative ideas. Registered participants will be able to submit questions for these discussions in advance via an online form.
