Solar-Log – equipped for the future!

Share

At the Intersolar 2012 from June 13 to 15 in Munich, Solare Datensysteme GmbH will present a range of new functions and options for the Solar-Log monitoring system. The spectrum of innovations from Solare Datensysteme ranges from "Solar-Log WEB Commercial Edition", the internet-based plant monitoring system for installers and service providers with new clear and compelling user guidance and design, to the Solar-Log PM+ PowerManagement models for fulfilling the requirements of the "EEG 2012", and a new interface for selling solar power to the energy exchange.

The simply better plant management system: Relaunch of Solar-Log WEB Commercial Edition

A highlight in the area of central plant monitoring is the internet-based evaluation platform, the Commercial Edition of the Solar-Log WEB. For plant managers, it offers every option for optimum monitoring and management of several plants simultaneously.

At Intersolar 2012, the Solar-Log WEB Commercial Edition showcases not only its new design, but also demonstrates its ability in the area of usability.

User friendliness and clarity are the focus.

From the very first glance, the new Solar-Log WEB Commercial Edition appears more structured and clearly laid out than the previous well-known version. New features include various filters and sorting options as well as a function to turn over pages easily. For users, this means that all required information can be found quickly and recognised at a glance. In addition, the new ‘Help’ function supports the user during daily use. The associated ‘Help’ icons provide detailed information concerning the respective function in the program.

EEG 2012: Everything under control with Solar-Log Powermanagement (PM+)

For Solare Datensysteme GmbH, Intersolar 2012 is all about the "EEG 2012" and the Solar-Log PM+ models which were developed with this regulation in mind. Awarded with the OTTI Innovation Prize in 2012, the PM+ series fulfills all of the legal stipulations for the new feed-in management in Germany: configuration of output reduction, configuration of reactive power control, connection for ripple control receiver and exact logging of output reductions.

70 percent Regulation: 100 percent effective usage with consumption of self-produced power.

With the so-called "70 percent Regulation", only 70 percent of the maximum output may be fed into the public grid. It is however possible to consume the remaining 30 percent yourself. The Solar-Log possesses the function required to record and monitor your own consumption as well as to switch on current consumers, such as heat pumps e.g., during certain production thresholds. To this end, the data logger actively controls the inverter between 70 and 100 percent, according to the rate of usage of self-produced power in order to maximize the yield and to reduce the loss to a minimum using the 70 percent Regulation.

Now you can also market energy yourself:

new interface for the energy exchange

According to the current EEG provisions in Germany, new plants will be recompensed for only an expected 80-90 percent of the PV energy generated. Nonetheless, the remaining 10-20 percent will not be lost as it can be used yourself or alternatively marketed directly to an energy exchange.

Alternative to EEG remuneration: market premium model

With the amendment of the EEG on 01.01.2012, operators of plants that produce renewable energy can transfer their power into direct marketing with the so-called market premium model. The energy is then sold via the energy exchange. The financial differences between the price for power obtained at the energy exchange and the previous EEG remuneration for PV power completely equalizes the so-called market premium.

New interface for data transfer

For plant operators, the principle of feeding-in remains unchanged: generated power is fed into the distribution network.

The Solar-Log models possess an extra interface so that the current power yield is sent to electricity traders every 15 minutes. The electricity traders can use this information to market the respective percentage of power to the energy exchange.

Attractive alternative for large plants

With the market premium model, higher earnings are obtained compared to the respective EEG remuneration. This makes the model interesting for existing plants, too. Although the regular market price is less than the EEG remuneration on the energy exchange, the difference for the feed-in remuneration is however equalized by the market premium. The amount of the balance is based on the average price of power for the respective month. Furthermore, a management premium is guaranteed so that the total remuneration is greater than the EEG remuneration. The benefits of the market premium model for existing plants make themselves especially felt for larger plants (greater than 100kWp).

Solar-Log SMB – optimum string monitoring available for retrofitting

Appearing for the first time at Intersolar 2012 is the new "Solar-Log™ SMB" (String Monitoring Box) which enables individual module strands in large photovoltaic plants to be monitored. The new Solar-Log™ SMB is an extension for plants which are already equipped with a String Combiner and want to retrofit an individual string monitoring system for the Solar-Log1000.

Upgrade existing plants and prevent financial losses

For large plants that possess a String Combiner Box without an individual monitoring option, at best the total strings are compared with one another by the central inverter and evaluated. Any possible malfunction of individual module strands is not recognized at all or recognized only very late. However, because in particular for large plants any output losses quickly lead to financial losses, the exact localization of the source of the error and its immediate remedy are required. The SMB in combination with the Solar-Log1000 allows accurate individual string monitoring and thus ensures the immediate recognition of faults.

Solar-Log SMB: Individual string monitoring at a low price

A cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new combiner box with a monitoring system is retrofitting the Solar-Log SMB. The SMB is installed next to the Combiner Box that is already available and is connected to the Solar-Log1000 using the available connection for exact monitoring and data evaluation.
