The South American country, with its high solar irradiation and huge surface availability, especially in the Atacama Desert, belongs to the emerging PV markets.

SolarMax recently finished a hybrid system that allows a switch to batteries or diesel generator in the cases of high energy use or low solar irradiation.

The 3 kW project was realized by the Chilean engineering firm Nahuenco and is located in Curacavi, which belongs to the metropolitan area of Santiago de Chile.

Currently, SolarMax is realizing a solar irrigation system together with the EPC company iEnergía. A PV plant with a capacity of 410 kW will primarily deliver the power for the use of electric drive pumps for irrigation of agricultural fields and additionally feeds the current into the grid. The system is equipped with 1,440 solar modules as well as with 24 SolarMax 15MT2 inverters.

Until the end of the first quarter of 2014 SolarMax expects the realization of projects with a total capacity of nearly one MW. At the beginning of 2014, Chile accounted for an installed PV capacity of 6.7 MW in total.

The Swiss inverter manufacturer SolarMax has been present in Chile since March 2013 and is happy to support the advancement of the utilization of the enormous solar potential of this ambitious Latin American country.
