The winning tender will allow SolarSpot to carry out an investment on the roof of ERGO ARENA with a capacity of 99.82 kWp, thanks to which the total power of the PV installations used will amount to 300 kWp. The investment will involve 217 photovoltaic modules, each with a capacity of 460 Wp and three SolarEdge inverters – two with a capacity of 25kW and one with a capacity of 50 kW. The amount of the investment is PLN 489,886.61 gross. Apart from the obvious savings, with increasing electricity costs, in at least 25 years of operation, the installation will avoid the emission of 1,568 tons of carbon dioxide CO2.

– Recent years have been a period of incredible development of pro-ecological projects, which are no longer just a fashionable PR topic, but have actually become a priority development direction for companies thinking about their future. The current situation on the energy market makes investments in the area of energy efficiency, including RES, even more justified. The ERGO ARENA hall has been active in this area for several years: we have made a comprehensive modernization of lighting with modern energy-saving LED technologies, we are implementing an energy management system and gradually building our own green energy production capacity. The contract with our partner SolarSpot is already the third stage of the investment in photovoltaics on the roof of the hall. ERGO ARENA is already a leader in the country and is one of the European leaders among such facilities – says Magdalena Sekuła, President of the Management Board of Hala Gdańsk-Sopot, operator of ERGO ARENA.

– I believe that ERGO ARENA can be a model for other sports and entertainment venues due to its ambitious energy-saving goals and pro-ecological activities. For SolarSpot, the earlier investment on the ERGO ARENA roof is one of the flagship projects in our portfolio. I am glad that another project will join it, and SolarSpot, with its daily activities, can support various entities in Poland in facing the challenges of reducing the costs of energy used and reducing the carbon footprint – says Przemysław Błaszczyk, President of SolarSpot SA.

The first installation implemented by SolarSpot with a capacity of 99.63 kWp was launched in August 2020. 246 photovoltaic modules were used for its construction, each with a capacity of 405 Wp and four SolarEdge inverters with a unit power of 25 kW. The installation has already produced over 173 MWh of energy, bringing electricity savings of 125 thousand. PLN and return on investment in approx. 4 years. Thanks to this investment, 125 tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere were also avoided in 2 years.

– With the rapidly growing energy prices in Poland, innovative companies and private individuals are increasingly looking for alternative energy sources as a solution. The solar system has proven to be the most popular option due to its efficiency, the quality of the products available, and the applicable government incentives. Thanks to huge reductions in carbon dioxide emissions, it is real estate such as ERGO ARENA that paves the way towards a more sustainable future, away from coal-powered energy – comments Michał Marona, CEO of SolarEdge Poland.
