SolarWorld AG held its third annual Supplier Awards ceremony in Hillsboro, Oregon USA on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. The event recognizes supply-chain partners for achievements in performance, technology, quality and sustainability. Luvata won the Sustainability Award.

"Our commitment to sustainability begins on the inside and extends outward to include our suppliers," indicates Mr. Daniel Menzel, Vice President of Global Procurement with SolarWorld AG. "This award recognizes Luvata efforts towards health, safety and the environment in support of SolarWorld's own initiative concerning energy conservation, climate protection and air pollution as well as water conservation."

"Working with our customers to embrace processes and produce end products that have a positive impact on sustainability is part of our "Partnerships beyond metals" philosophy," says Tero Horttana, Global Director for PV accounts with Luvata Special Products. Luvata manufactures photovoltaic ribbon branded Sunwire®, used as both an interconnecting ribbon and a cross-connecting ribbon in solar panel manufacturing. "From the sourcing of raw materials or recycled materials, to product packaging and delivery, we're looking to build sustainability into everything we do."

In 2008, Luvata committed €20million towards photovoltaic wire production and today has four dedicated Sunwire manufacturing facilities in Europe, Asia and North America. Luvata's close proximity to customers offers local customer service and technical support, as well as savings in energy and transportation costs.
