Tedlar meets Polyamide — Solar backsheet ICOSOLAR TPA HR

The new ICOSOLAR TPA HR backsheet of Isovoltaic combines the best out of two film technologies: Tedlar & Polyamide and provides excellent properties over the module’s service life.

This PV backsheet is highly reliable, perfectly fits for installations under especially challenging conditions and increases module efficiency through high reflectivity. The unique resin system of Isovoltaic has already proven to be best-in-class for more than 25 years in TPT-backsheets like ICOSOLAR 2442. It assures layer adhesion that still works after 3500 h Damp Heat testing and is also used for the new ICOSOLAR TPA HR backsheet.

By adding the innovative Polyamide film on the cell side it provides exceptionally high reflectivity and in addition to that a remarkable EVA adhesion of up to 100 N/cm (measured by leading tier 1 module manufacturers). Field-proven Tedlar features high resistance to UV and weathering for the outer layer.

The PET core provides mechanical stability, electrical insulation and a water vapor barrier. Solar cells require effective protection to be able to efficiently convert sunlight into useable energy. This protection has to be provided by PV backsheets for a long time. Adhesion values between the layers of the backsheet and from the backsheet to EVA are critical, as delamination seriously reduces the module service lifetime.
