Upsolar today announced a significant step toward expanding its global market share: verification of high performance in coastal and agricultural areas, both popular locations for PV installations. The company earned certification from conformity assessment laboratory Bureau Veritas (BV) LCIE China for demonstrating that its modules both standard-type and those with the Zep Solar and SOLRIF frames can withstand both the above average levels of salt spray common to coastal regions, and the ammonia exposure prevalent in agricultural environments.
Module performance degradation is a major concern for PV installations sited near waterways. Following an extensive analysis, BV LCIE determined that Upsolar modules meet all the criteria required to achieve IEC 610701 standard, showing no decline in overall performance from elevated levels of salt mist. Similarly, high amounts of ammonia in agricultural areas such as livestock farms can be detrimental to the functionality of PV installations. Upsolar modules demonstrated no working signs of corrosion following ammonia testing by BV LCIE, qualifying the products for the IEC 62716 Ed.1 standard.
