Woodward, Inc. (NASDAQ: WWD) announced that its 1000V SOLO solar inverters have successfully passed all testing in accordance with the UL-1741 standard for solar inverters and equipment.

The 250 and 500 kW inverters and Smart String Boxes were tested and certified by a nationally recognized test lab (NRTL). Now this proven European technology is available in the North American market.

Woodward 1000V solar inverters reduce balance of system (BOS) installation costs by allowing connection of more modules per string, reducing the number of connection boxes and DC switches, lowering DC cable losses and simplifying the system design. With efficiencies up to 98.2% and a wide maximum power point tracking (MPPT) range, the inverters help improve energy yield while offering one of the smallest footprints on the market.

Woodward inverters feature extensive grid integration functionality, including active and reactive power, low voltage ride through (LVRT), and fault ride through (FRT). The inverters also come with integrated data loggers and offer numerous communication interfaces to ensure 24/7 access to performance metrics and monitoring. Inverters are a critical component for delivering stable, high-quality power to the grid, and Woodward’s robust development process helps ensure the highest reliability.

“Obtaining our certification to UL standards officially launches us into the North American solar market, and we are excited to bring our proven, reliable inverter technology to a new market with such growth potential,” said Doug Salter, Technology and Business Development Director of Woodward’s Renewable Power Systems business. “With over 20GW of power converters on the grid, Woodward is a strong, proven partner for utility-scale projects.”

Woodward is a leader in innovative power conversion systems for the wind, solar, marine, and energy storage markets. Woodward’s SOLO product line features compact, high efficiency, liquid-cooled solar inverters ranging from 100kW to over 1MW. Our inverters are designed for tough environments with extended temperature ranges (-25°C – +55°C) and high altitude configurations (up to 3,500 meters).
