Pacifico starts building 42 MW in Japan
Pacifico Energy has started building a 42 MW solar project in northeastern Japan.
Japan may cancel 27.7 GW of approved PV capacity
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has said that it may cancel feed-in tariff (FIT) approvals for 456,000 projects, or roughly 27.6 GW of capacity, as the prospective developers of those projects failed to lock in grid-connection agreements by the government’s March 31 deadline.
Solar provides 4.3% of Japan’s electricity during 2016
The latest data show solar taking an increasing role in Japan’s energy mix, however several provinces are nearing caps on PV capacity eligible for reimbursement for curtailed power.
