Professor Roland Scheer, former acting institute head of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, is assuming teaching and research with a focus on PV at the university’s Institute of Physics. Q-Cells is financing the endowed professorship and its staffing over a period of five years.

As early as in autumn 2008, the company established the sandwich course in solar technology in collaboration with the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Koethen. Integrating students into the Q-Cells SE career development stages takes place in close coordination between the company and the University of Applied Sciences.

As well as promoting further academic education, the company says it has been educating young people in technical, and commercial professions since 2002. "A 2,500 m2 vocational and continuing education centre provides a well-equipped framework for this," it explains.

With the new education year starting from August onwards, Q-Cells is educating a total of 91 trainees / apprentices and has contracted 17 students in the sandwich course in solar technology. In the 2010 teaching year, 36 new trainees and six students will begin their apprentice or trainee programs.
