Kness Group to build 400 MW solar panel factory in Ukraine

The first 200 MW section of the manufacturing facility, to be located in Vinnytsia, in Central Ukraine, is set to be operational by the end of this year. The second 200 MW phase of the project will be implemented by the end of 2019.

Romania launches rebate scheme to support solar under net metering

The rebate mechanism may cover up to 90% of the costs for buying and installing a rooftop PV system, but grants may not exceed 20,000 RON (around US$4,800). The scheme is intended to support the development of net metered residential solar projects.

Malta launches second tender for solar plants exceeding 1 MW in size

The call is the second of its kind, and part of the 50 MW incentive scheme the island’s government launched in November. Malta is aiming to reach 200 MW of PV capacity by 2020.

Large-scale solar sees 20% drop in new projects in H1 2018

According to Wiki-Solar, around 16 GW of new solar PV parks were brought online worldwide in the first half of this year. In the same period of 2017, newly installed utility-scale PV capacity totaled around 20 GW.

Macquarie buys 90% stake in 322 MW solar portfolio in northern Mexico

Danish Energy Agency expects wind to be only winner in wind-solar tenders

Spanish government approves Solarcentury’s 300 MW PV project

The Ministry of the Ecological Transition has given the green light to a solar park near the municipality of Talayuela, in the southern region of Extremadura. Work on the facility may begin this year with completion scheduled for 12 months later.

Solar set to make rum taste even sweeter in Guyana

The government of the South American country has changed the designated use of a plot of land near Diamond, for the construction of a solar plant, among other projects. The PV facility is being planned by local rum producer Demerara Distillers Limited.

Brazil: more plans for big solar parks unveiled

Brazilian conglomerate Grupo Rio Alto is planning to deploy another 210 MW of solar plants in the state of Paraiba, while Korean company KSB is discussing a $1.5 billion solar project with the authorities of Campo Grande, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul.

Dutch government launches tender for utility-scale solar noise barrier

The solar project will be built at the A58 Highway, near the municipality of Etten-Leur. More solar noise barriers, relying on bifacial module, are planned for main roads in the Netherlands.
